NAN Youth appointed to Canadian poverty reduction strategy committee

Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Deputy Grand Chief Walter Naveau, on behalf of the NAN Executive Council, congratulates Rachelle Metatawabin, Fort Albany First Nation who was appointed to the Canadian Poverty Reduction Strategy Committee this week:

“We are pleased to congratulate Rachelle on being appointed to this committee and are confident that she will shine in this very important role. Rachelle’s background in social justice and her personal interest in supporting children and youth will provide a strong voice for the youth of Nishnawbe Aski Nation. This committee is a great way for the committee members to provide advice and engage with the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and we look forward to hearing their ideas on how to reduce poverty in First Nations across Canada.”

The Government of Canada released Opportunity for All – Canada’s First Poverty Reduction Strategy on August 21, 2018
