Head Electoral Officer Announces Candidates for 2024 NAN Executive Council Election
THUNDER BAY, ON: Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Head Electoral Officer Audrey Gilbeau has received and verified nominations for the 2024 Election for the Executive Council of Nishnawbe Aski Nation.
As per the Notice of NAN Election for the position of Grand Chief and Deputy Grand Chiefs (3) to take place on August 14, 2024, the deadline for nominations was June 15, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. (EST). As of 12:01 a.m. (EST), the following nominations were received from the following candidates who met all requirements as per Section 4.1 of the NAN Election Procedures.
Candidates for Grand Chief:
- Alvin Fiddler, Muskrat Dam First Nation
- Pauline Penena Mickelson, Sachigo Lake First Nation
- Bobby A. Narcisse, Aroland First Nation
Candidates for Deputy Grand Chief:
- Anna Betty Achneepineskum, Marten Falls First Nation
- Mike Metatawabin, Fort Albany First Nation
- Bobby A. Narcisse, Aroland First Nation
In accordance with the NAN Election Procedures, the official Campaign Period will run from June 30 until Election Day during the 42nd Keewaywin Conference, to be held August 13, 14 & 15, 2024 in Constance Lake First Nation.
The Head Electoral Officer will oversee all aspects of the election process and will deal with any issues during the campaign period and election process.
