NAN congratulates Emily Beardy on Canadian Army award

Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler, on behalf of the NAN Executive Council, congratulates Canadian Ranger Emily Beardy, a member of Muskrat Dam First Nation, who was honoured as part of the 2019 Canadian Army Deserving Soldiers events over the weekend:

“We commend Emily for supporting her community in times of need while being a role model to her community and colleagues. It is great to acknowledge the dedication and achievements of our members who are helping our communities and strengthening our Nation. Emily’s leadership and dedication continues to inspire others to be a positive influence in their communities. We value our relationship with the Canadian Rangers as they continue to support our communities, have compassion for our people, respect for our culture, and have a welcome presence across our Nation.”

The Canadian Army Deserving Solider Award is given to a soldier who embodies the Warrior spirit through their dynamic leadership, commitment to excellence, resiliency, and service before self both in their units and communities. They serve as exceptional examples for their colleagues to emulate, as true ambassadors for the Canadian Armed Forces.

The 3rd Canadian Ranger Patrol Group has a significant record of service to the people of Nishnawbe Aski Nation. They have grown to 500 Rangers in 23 of our 49 First Nations, with more than 1,000 Junior Canadian Rangers. Their presence in our communities is saving lives through search-and-rescue operations and training in outdoor safety and survival.
